Pz Kpfw III Ausf N (Kursk, 1943)
The Ausf N was upgunned from the Ausf J's longer barrel 5.0cm KwK39 L/60 gun with a short barrel 75mm, the KwK L/24. This gun had a better high explosive sheel and was capable of firing a shaped charge round with better armour penetrating ability than the KwK 39. From September 1942 these were allocated in 10s to provide close support for the Tigers in Heavy Tank Companies. In total 663 were produced.
