M103A2 Heavy Tank

Introduced in 1957, the M103 was designed to take on Soviet heavy tanks such as the later IS and T-10 models if World War III followed a conventional war. It was armd with a 120mm M58 gun and two 0.3 cal M1919A4E1 machine guns. The M103 served in Europe in a heavy tank battalion although never saw combat. By 1963 they were replaced in the Army by the M60 Main Battle Tank and in the Marines by 1973.
