M4A3E8 Sherman HVSS Flamethrower Tank

The M4A3E8 HVSS (Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension) served in WW2 and Korea as well serving during many of the Middle East wars. During WW2 the US Army had fitted a number of Shermans with flamethrowers including the M4A3 105mm. The weapon was fitted in the machine gun position in the turret so that the tank still carried its main gun. These tanks were sent to Okinawa in 1945 but arrived too late so were used by the USMC on Guam and later in the Korean War.
