Leopard 2 A5/A6 Main Battle Tank

The Leopard 2 was developed by Germany in the early 1970s replacing the earlier Leopard 1. It was armed with a 120mm Rheinmetall L/44 smoothbore gun which was later replaced with the L/55 and two 7.62mm MG3A1 machine guns. The Leopard 2 has been in production since 1979 and remains in production today with over 3,600 vehicles produced. The A5 appeared in 1995 and featured improvements to the crew protection. The A6 featured the Rheinmetall 120mm L/55 smoothbore gun.
