Like all the 18 class of weapons, the 15cm sFH 18 was brought into service in 1933-34. This was the partner of the s 10cm K-18 Bleiglanz, using the same carriage but heavier barrel. The sFH 18 was the first weapon to be issued with a rocket assisted shell which was designed to increase the range. Typically the gun, due to its heavier weight required heavier tractors such as the Sd Kfz 7 8 ton half track for transport.
