Pz Kpfw V Panther Ausf G

The Panther was introduced into service in 1943 in response to the Russian T-34 exhibiting the same sloped armour design which increased the effective thickness of armour as well as improving shot deflection. The Panther was armed with the lethal high velocity KwK 42 L/70 75mm gun as well as two MG34. One particular feature of some Ausf G was the introduction of a chin on the gun mantlet to mitigate the risk of AP shots being bounced downwards through the thinner upper hull armour.
