The AMR-33 (Automitrailleuse de Reconaissance Renault Modele 1933) was also known as the Renault VM was developed in 1932. The French Cavalry received 123 vehicles which were both lightly armoured and armed making them fast for their time. It was not designed for a reconnaissance role but it was used to provide fire support to infantry and dismounted cavalry being armed with a 7.5mm Mitralleuse mle 1931 machine gun.
