Freya LZ A (FuMG-401) Radar

Initial test of Freya took place in 1937 with delivery of an operational radar to the Kreigsmarine in 1938. Freya was more advanced than British radar. It operated on a shorter 1.2m wavelength which allowed for a smaller antenna which was easier to rotate and offered higher resolution so could detect smaller targets. The FuMG-401 was installed on a wooden support allowing it to slide up and down enabling more accurate determination or the target's altitude. Resin and Brass Etched Kit
