M-5 3" Anti Tank Gun on M-6 Carriage

Development of the M-5 begain in 1940 when the 3" T9 anti aircraft gun was combined with the breech, recoil system and carriage of the 105mm M2 howitzer. The M-5 on M-1 carriage was produced from December 1942. In November 1943 the carriage was modified as the M-6 with the flat 105mm howitzer shield replaced with a sloped shield. Earlier guns were then modified with the new M-6 carriage and shield. In total, around 2,500 were produced.
