Sherman V with FL-10 Turret

The Egyptians converted the Sherman M4A4 (or Sherman Mk V) by fitting it with an M4A2 diesel engine and the oscillating FL-10 turret from the French AMX-13 light tank. The design provided a smaller turret which reduced both the size and weight of the tank but also made for cramped crew quarters. The gun featured an automated mechanism to reload allowing the gunner to fire 12 shots in quick succession without reloading. However, reloading the auto-reloader required the crew to dismount.
