M7 "Kangaroo" Armoured Personnel Carrier

The Kangaroo (also known as a "Defrocked Priest") was an improvisation first used by the Canadians during Operation Totalise in Normandy in 1944. 102 Priests were made available, as Artillery regiments switched to towed 25 pounders, and these were stripped of their 105mm guns and the gun apeture was covered with armoured plates. The Kangaroo could carry 12 men and allowed infantry to keep up with the armour and be protected against small arms fire.
