Type 97 Te-Ke Tankette

The Te-Ke was designed as a fast tankette to be used in a reconnaissance role during WWII. Developed from the earlier Type 94 TK, 557 Te-Ke were produced between 1938 and 1942. Design changes included moving the engine further back and bringing the turret into the middle of the vehicle. The Type 97 Te-Ke was armed with the Type 94 37mm. However, a shortage of these guns meant a number of Te-Ke were also fitted with a 7.7mm Type 97 Machine gun instead.
