The Sd Kfz 261 Radio Armoured Car was a variant of the more common Sd Kfz 223 Armoured Car and was externally identical to the Sd Kfz 260 except for the folding-frame aerial which was of a similar type to that used on the 223. The 261 was employed by HQ units for communicating with divisional or brigade HQ, for which a much greater range was required from the wireless set. The most prominent differences from the 233 were that the turret was set further to the rear of the hull.
