The Marder II was produced by FAMO, MAN and Daimler-Benz with 576 produced between June 1942 and mid 1943. After this remaining Pz II chassis were used for Wespe prodcution. However, a further 75 were produced from mid 1943 to early 1944 when the last of the Panzer II were withdrawn from service. The conversion added a open topped fighting compartment to the hull and a 75mm Pak40 was mounted. Marder II were allocated to Panzerjaeger detatchments from July 1942.
