Armoured Locomotive OV Type OB-3 (No5676)

The Armoured Locomotive OV (type OB-3) was developed by the Russians in the early stages of WWII. They were manufactured to standard specifications by armouring the OV type locomotive. No 5676, attached to No2 44th Battalion, was typical of this design. It had armoured steel plates of up to 40mm thickness on the boiler, tender and covering moving parts. The tender had a 12.7mm DshK heavy machine gun for air defence. Sixty of these armoured trains were produced between 1941 and 1943.
