AS-90 'Abbot' Self Propelled Gun

The AS-90 is a lightly armoured self propelled artillery piece used by the British Army which entered service in 1993. The AS-90 is used by the 5 regiments of the Royal Horse Artillery replacing the M109 155mm SPG or the FH-70 155mm towed gun. It is armed with a 155mm L31 39 calibre gun and carries 48 rounds. The AS-90 was developed by Vickers from the mid 1980s with eventual delivery in 1993.
