JS-7 Heavy Tank

The JS-7 heavy tank was developed in 1948. Mounting a 130mm S-70 gun it was the heaviest of the JS series of tanks at 68 tonnes. The design followed the earlier JS-3 with a pike nose on the upper glacis that could deflect frontal shots. Its armour was sufficient to stand up to the Jagdtiger's 128mm Pak44. However it never entered production probably due to its weight - Soviet tanks entering service at this time were limited to 55 tonnes.
