Based on the standard 8 ton Sd Kfz 7 prime mover, the Sd Kfz 7/3 was developed as a control vehicle for the A-4/V-2 Rocket. The rear of the Sd Kfz 7/3 had an armoured superstructure to house the guidance and radio equipment as well as protection for the 3 man crew from the launch blast.
