5.5cm Zwilling Flakpanzer V

In 1943, Rheinmetall-Borsig started a project to mount two 3.7cm Flak43 in a fully armoured turret on a Panther chassis. The design was the Flakpanzer V "Coelian". Although the Coelian never enterered service, other designs were proposed to mount larger AA weapons on the Panther chassis. The 5.5cm Zwilling Flakpanzer V mounted twin 5.5cm Flak cannons in a turret that broadly matched the design for the Coelian. As with the Coelian, the 5.5cm Zwilling Flakpanzer V never entred service in WWII.
