Waco CG-4A Assault Glider

The CG-4A was built by Waco Aircraft Company with flight testing starting in 1942. Over 13,900 CG-4A were delivered. The CG-4A was constructed of fabric covered wood and metal and was flown by a pilot and co-pilot. The glider was capable of carrying 13 troops and their equipment but was also able to carry a Willys Jeep. Other loads included the 75mm Howitzer or the 1/4 ton trailer with loading through the upward hinged nose section. Typically CG-4A were towed by C-47 Skytrains.
