Pz Kpfw VI Ausf B King Tiger (Porsche Production)

The Tiger II (Sd Kfz 182) was ordered in January 1943 to provide a tank capable of housing the 8.8cm L/71 gun. The first 50 King Tiger produced had the original Porsche designed turret. This was later replaced by a Henschel designed turret. The first vehicles entered service in June 1944 and were allocated to the Schwere Panzer detatchments of the SS. Seeing extensive action in Normandy 1944 the King Tiger also served in the Ardennes offensive in the winter of 1944 and on the Eastern Front
