Munitionsschlepper auf Wespe

The Wespe was converted from Pz Kpfw II chassis filling a need for artillery that could keep pace with the Panzers in Russia. Mounting the 105mm Howitzer, Wepses first saw action in Operation Citadel near Kursk in 1943. Wespes also served in Italy and North West Europe. Wespes were converted to ammunition carriers by removing the gun and covering the aperture. They could carry 90 rounds and two were allocated for every 6 Wespes.
